The thing I think we are all missing with the 75, 155 and 164 is the present state they are in. It is my honest held belief that these cars will suddenly break out into collectable prices etc.
The 105 series etc are increasing so fast in valve that they are becoming unobtainable rapidly, as a result good GTV6/Alfetta are starting to rise. I have one of these to restore hidden away and they are 'rot boxes' fact!
So whats next on the radar? The last RWD platform made by Alfa, the 75! Then comes the last cars to have the REAL Alfa engines the 164, 155.
Now in our favour is the recent status of those car.
75 - Much unloved and the TS has been used as a DONOR vehicle for 105 Twin Spark conversions. Raced in the IMSA, ETCC, Grp A rally etc
164 - Again unloved and expensive to repair so alot were scrapped and was a DONOR car for the Stratos kit car! Engine and box out, scrap the rest. The car that held the fate of the brand based on its quality and success, even built the pro car to advertise it and had a celebrity race series.
155 - Remember the BTCC, this was a dominent car and the factory did the Silverstone edition here, never held its money due to the amount sold and most have been scrapped!
So the above shows the numbers decreasing rapidly and they all hold something unique in Alfa's past, especially if its race heritage!
They will never reach Ford status in the UK but get them now and you wont regret it. I have picked up a 75 Turbo (working on at present), a 164 24V Cloverleaf (engine out at present, best Alfa ever for me) and an Alfetta GTV for restoration later. The beauty of this, I spent less than £1000 to get all these.
I can remember in 1997 buying a garaged MINT Ford Escort Mk2 1600 sport for £600 and my perfect Capri 2.8i Special I owned then was only £800! Seen the price of these recently? Sounds familiar?
