Originally 2 years ago the car had a complete restoration by a 75 specialist which included having the ECU chipped as part of their recommended performance package. As it turned out this has been a disaster as I am now on my third new engine in 4,500 miles. Before running the third rebuilt engine I had the ecu re-programmed to standard butthat didn't work then a new standard chip put in along with a new MAF but again the car still won't run run right. On idle a low rev's it misses and over fuels to the extent that after 1,000 miles on the second engine as supplied by the specialist the oil was like water and smelt of petrol, in fact it was more petrol than oil. This caused me to have a third engine rebuilt (at my own expense) which I don't want to run until I get a standard ECU. I have tried the car with a standard ECU which was borrowed and it ran perfectly but they seem impossible to source. Any help in locating one or advice would be appreciated. All lines of enquiry in the UK and Europe have failed to find a standard motronic unit which seems amazing! Wish i had a jetronic version - no problem in getting ecu's for the early model.
