Re: Actually saw an SZ today!
Reading that you have never seen anything like the SZ reminded me of a little chat I had with my Mother's husband last year....
We had been to an Alfa day at Lotherton Hall, pretty decent day, not too bad at all and had seen an exceptionally pleasant red SZ. The guy who owned it was, in true Alfisti style, proud and welcoming to all comers who enthused over his motor. He invited me to sit in and have a feel for the car, even offered to let me turn the engine over which I refused out of some weird sense of decency (I regret that deeply now). Still it was the first time I had physically set eyes on an SZ and even Mrs Punts was overawed. naturally we took several pictures of this beauty and for that time at least moved on.
Took the pics to show my Mum's husband and he flicked through them moaning about how Alfa's were this and that then he saw a couple of pics of Integrales that I had taken and called them Skodas????? Before I had had chance to remark on his obvious idiocy he saw the SZ and called it a BMW. I spat my tea all over the place. If he hadn't been six feet twelve and I not five six I would have battered him to within an inch of his life (!!!!!!) Naturally he marked my reaction and came down from his I drive a Mercedes Benz C Class Coupe McDonald's 200 Kompressor Elegance Avant Garde piece of poo! I like the guy but....
a) He used to drive Chrysler Neons and think they were the canines conkers
b) He had an A class and said it was the perfect motor car with no faults (have you heard the amount of recalls on these cars over the last few years and I don't just mean the A class but all Mercs)
c) He has a bad back and had a knee replacement (not to fix his back!) so championed his A class until Mr and Mrs Punts bought a shiny black GTV with a lovely red MOMO leather interior when suddnely the practicalities of the A class were no longer important as a trip to the nearest zzzzzzz Mercedes garage proved.
Great rant for a Friday I suppose but it winds me up! Oh yeah, he had no idea about the SZ to remind you. Remember: It looks like a BMW.
But we disagree......
