you want to check thoroughly through the entire ignition system, check both distributors inside for wear/ corrosion / burning of cap or rotor ( including checking that the little carbon contact inside the cap is not missing like mine was! ) also pull all of the spark plugs and inspect then check that all ht leads / plug leads are pushed on tight. You could also have an issue with an ignition coil. As the ignition is in two halves, you can end up with only one plug firing properly (or at all ) per cylinder causing spark propogation issues usually more obvious at higher rpm and detonation / knocking or missing. i have also had some minor misfire issues relating to fuel quality as most twinsparks should be set up to run on 95 RON or higher, but many supermarkets etc only offer 93 RON. this can be remedied by changing the fuel quality relay (its NOT a relay it just pretends to look like one) info on which can be found by searching for 'craig's place fuel quality plug'. basically you can just make up a really simple little 2 inch or so long 'y' cable to replace the plug thats there and reset the ECU to 91 RON.
This is all assuming that you are running a stock setup, as ive found that ECU chips can cause a few issues like this and in my opinion need to be accompanied by a hotter coil.
BUT ... i bet you find a really simple problem in the distributor , new caps and rotors go a LONG way, as do a new, or at least cleaned up set of plugs
