Spark Plusg Alfa 75

I own an Alfa Romeo 75, 1.6 liters. It has only about 100 km. The Alfa garage long ago changed out and installed new spark plugs, but now they have so much work there is no more time to bother with my old car. I have purchased new spark plugs, but I can't take off the old ones. The spark plug cable has a metallic shield around the plugs. I'm afraid to force the spark plug cables and covers. How do you remove the cable shield from the spark plugs? Is it normal that they must be forced off and/or force installed back on? If so, do you use a screwdriver or some kind of wedge to force the covers off the plugs? Help pelease.

The metal cover is part of the connector assembly.
You should be able to hold the metal part and pull it (and the cable, etc) off of the spark plugs.

Don't pull on the cables.

A work Colleague who used to work for Alfa Dover said that many, many engines came back with holes in the pistons because the wrong spark plugs were fitted. Scared me, so I only ever use the golden Lodge plugs on my Alfas.
