75 hood cable problems

Hello. Let me introduce myself. I am from the United States and have two Alfas, a 164L and a Milano. Both have given me a driving experience that I have not found in any other marque of car, yet.

Right now, I am at college and I am creating a checklist for things to do with my Milano, because I want to drive the car while I am at college. However, before I went back to college after break, I had two main problems.

First, I am having trouble with the starter, and I want to try and fix it. However, the hood/bonnet is stuck and I cannot get it open because of the cable is broken. I wanted to know how can I get the hood open.

Thanks,

Bandit1018

P.S. With the Milano that I own, it has the European style grille.

Remove the grille badge (pressed in). Under this is a cross head screw. Remove this and the grill should just pull out (it's held on by four plastic plugs attached to the headlights).

Now you should be able to get at the underside of the hood catch. A quick poke with a screwdriver and you're in.

Or, alternatively just lie on the ground and reach up between the bumper & radiator & pull the catch that the cable used to be connected to!

It was the easiest way I found after my cable snapped - didn't need to take anything off (although I have got long arms).
