Fun and games in the Midlands

Hello All,

I just wanted to get out there and say hello to everyone. I have been reading the forum on this site for sometime and have found it informative and often entertaining!!

I currently only have 1 Alfa at the moment an 04 156, and have had it over a year! I love it to pieces and Im officially 100% Alfa now after flirting with certain French marques in the past.

Im just about to part some cold hard cash for a lovely H Reg 75 2.0 TS LE, hopefully it will be in my care by next week, and I can't wait! I looks an amazing car to drive. If anyone has any advice on this model, as a bit of a beginners guide, then please get in touch. My heart is beating fast at the thought of red lining this soon to be classic car, through a tunnel (possibly on the A38 in the center of Birmingham) with the windows down.

Anyway enough waffle! Im sure I will be speaking to some of you in the near future!

Re: Fun and games in the Midlands

welcome, I too did the Brum tunnels on the way home from work once, got the thing sideways as it was a bit wet and the car was a bit more lively than I thought....still, soon back under control.

There are a couple of buyer guide type things on here, but main points to watch for are rusty fuel tank, rust around the rear lights and spare wheel well in the boot, crunchy second gear and those wonderful Italian electrics that are mainly German. There is plenty of scope to tinker with your bella, from poly bushes, lower suspension springs and roll bars, to a wide ranges of brake upgrades and putting in the V6 3.0 from a 166.

That said, beware, the cars can become addictive money pits...

So I understand.....Money I should be using to save for house! But my arguement is that you cant go sideways in house whilst doing 50!

Im buying it off the bloke who takes care of my 156 and has had 20 alfa in his time, so I feel I may be in good hands, but I will do all the checks you suggested. He has done some nice things to it though, as any good mechanic with a passion for Alfas should. I will post photos on here as and when I get the keys! Well after we've had the get to know you drive!

Watch this space!
