Eco question (Euro-2 or Euro-3?)

Hello, everyone!

I am from Moscow, RF and I'm going to buy an Alfa Romeo 75 1.8 1986 in Europe, but there's some problem. Due to new russian customs law i cannot take across the border a vehicle that does not meet the requirements of Euro-3.

So, is Alfa Romeo 75 with injected turbo Euro-2 or Euro-3?

Thank you!

Is the RF Euro-3 test based on factory specifications? or do you have an entry test station? If you have to pass a test, it would be wise to buy a car that has already passed a similar test outside of the RF.

Euro-1 was 1992 I doubt any 75 will pass even that. Perhaps a USA based Milano might, on a good day!

I guess it's based on factory specifications, there're no entry test stations.

But if it is not Euro-3, is there a way to reduce emission to get a sertificate that the car is appropriate Euro-3 now?

Well, I don't know about the NOx, but at it's last NCT (National Car Test) my TS came out with very clean results. Remember, this is a non-cat car and she still managed 0.08% CO emissions (limit - 3.5%) and 68PPM Hydrocarbon (limit 760PPM).
The above limits are the Irish national limits for a car of that vintage and may, or may not, be based on the European standards, though I assume they are.

Could you find out what the emissions requirements for Euro-3 are? Then get your car tested at testing station (MOT in the UK), if it's within the requirements then take the certificate with you....

Euro3 came in for 2001
Euro2 for 1998

So a 1986 75 isn't either, it won't even be "Euro1" which I think was 1992.

Getting an old 1986 engine to meet 2001 emissions requirements would be very difficult, which is why the 1986 engine wasn't used...

I thought in Russia you could pay to bypass regulations.
