My Alfa Romeo 75 3.0 V6 24v "POWER"

Hello, by brothers!!!

First, I'm the founder of Romanian Alfa Romeo Fan Club.

Last year I bought an Alfa Romeo 75 3.0 V6.
The initial colour was silver, but it was painted in red (my favourite).
The name "Power" was inspired from the number plate
Some technical data:
- year: 1987
- color: Rosso Ferrari
- engine: AR061.24 3.0 V6 24v (from an 164)
- capacity: 2959 cmc
- power: 136kW (on papers), the real power is 240BHP @ 6500rpm and torque is 294Nm @ 5000rpm, rev limit 7300rpm (chip Squadra Tuning)
Some modifications made:
- 16" alloy rims equipped with GY F1 GS-D2 205/45ZR16 on front and Avon ZZ3 225/45ZR16 rear
- HU Sony + amplifier + subwoofer Blaupunkt

Next mods I will make:
- Koni shock absorbers
- Simoni Racing springs
- GTA brake disks and calipers (see photos)
- Trip computer under oil pressure gauge
- oil temperature sensor
- lambda meter

Enjoy THIS movie and these photos:

These photos were taken last year. The movie is made when the engine is not running so well, on pedal to the metal, the throttle is opened about 60% because the throttle butterfly is too big.

Next I will present the 6-month work in restoration of this beauty.
In november I had a problem with the oil pump, the pressure gauge indicated that I had under 0.5 bar, I run with the engine supposing that the gauge is defective. The result: cylider 4 half-bearings and the crankshaft were destroyed. Next I will describe the entire work of overhauling the transmission and engine.

Re: My Alfa Romeo 75 3.0 V6 24v "POWER"

hello and welcome, another 24v 75 owner

Just a mental note for everyone here, if a pressure gauge appears to read low, NEVER assume its electics at fault!

ALWAYS manually check with a good mechanical test gauge

How do you make the piping between the thermostat housing and the radiator work on a 24v in longitudinally!?

Re: My Alfa Romeo 75 3.0 V6 24v "POWER"

Hello!
Thanks for appreciation!!!
Please feel free to tell me what are the things I must add or remove from Power?

Let's continue...
When I ran the engine with low oil pressure supposing that the gauge is defective, the engine started to knock. I supposed that a piston knocks the cylinder head...
I removed the oil cover and I remarked that around the magnetic oil drain plug are a lot of metallic confettis.

My mind goes immediately to the piston rods half bearings. I examined the piston rods and I remarked immediately that the 4th rod feels loose. I removed the half bearing ends of the piston rod and I see that the crankshaft and piston rod are ruined.

A new crankshaft is too expensive... so I decided to buy an complete engine.

After some phones, I found a Alfa Romeo 164 3.0 V6 24v. I bought the engine for EUR 700. The engine runs very well despite of the high mileage (about 275,000 km).

I can put the engine as is on my 75. But I decided to fully dismantle the engine and to completely clean the inner parts of the engine, and assembly the engine with new half-bearings, new piston ring sets, new cylinder head gaskets, new intake and exhaust gaskets, new o-rings, new seals, every NON-METALLIC parts were changed with new ones, including fuel ad coolant hoses.

Tomorrow I will describe the entire process of the engine overhauling, including a list of money spent.

All the work was made by mine with my own hands. Only helps I requested were to move the engines from one place to another. And to encourage me.

Cheers!

P.S.: No one knows how to attach the images and to insert these photos inline?

Later edit:
@Pud237: look at the attachment and see how I put the pipings. If you referred to another thing, please tell me. If you need detailed photos with the all cooling circuit, please tell me. It was a real pain in the ass to find how to make the all pipings... I'm sorry for the bad picture quality, because of that stupid 100kb limit of the attachment, I lost 5 minutes of my life cropping a 2MP photo and lowering the JPG quality below 65!!! Gentlemen, we are in the TERRABYTE ERA!!! KB are in the 80's!!! Wake Up!!! 200kb is fine! Or put a 800x600 size limit, like in my forum...
Thanks!

Its a doddle mate you use a RWD stat sandwich plate! (this removes the rail that runs to the rear between the "V"
