Alfa Romeo 75

Alfa Romeo 75 Problem!

Hello ! I have an alfa romeo 75 1.8 I.E. from 1991 and i want to tell my story !
I have bought this alfa romeo from a guy that was 70 years old and from 2004 he had not driven this car .. it was full of dirt on the outside But NO RUST and the interior was PERFECT ! all the electrics worked .. so i put a new battery and some fuel and started it and driven it home...on the road i felt it leeking on power.. so i changed the spark pluges and all was well... OK ... after 5 days... i went to the car and wanted to start it ! NOTHING .. i had fuel and etc .. nothing So i raised the bonet and saw a cable that was broken from the thing that gives the sparkes .. cilinder thing .. i repaired the cable and started it ! OK .. after another week or so .. i had to arrive somewhere very fast ... i was driving and at 3 gear and 4500 RPM ai braked and entered somewhere i changed fast to second and arrived .. But after that violent brake ... MY BRAKES FAILED .. when i wanted to park it .. i pushed the break and my foot got at the bottom and no breakes .. so i hit a pavement with the front grill and scraped it because it was high .. ok .. after 4 hours.. i needed to get home .. and i got in my car.. started it .. i pushed the brakes and WORKED.. i got home.. all was ok ..the next day i saw a flat tire on my car... But first i cleaned the air filter.. and putted back ... started it and i noticed that the car was working on only 3 cilinders... and i saw the spark plug cap moving violentely... so i stoped the car.. and removed the protecter ( 2 black things holded together with 2 wires ) and i saw that the 2 little claps that hold the spark plug cap .. where down .... and i have put them back on ... i put the filter back on .. and started it.. and i noticed that the RPM was going down .. from 1000 .. i reved it.. .. ok .. i put the compresor to fill the wheel with air.. and i have entered the car.. started again the engine .. and waited .. for the wheel to fill with air.... after 2 minutes... 5 minutes.. i reved it to 2000 .. all was fine.. and than ... the revs had gone down to 600-500 and stoped the engine...
I tried to start it again .. and NOTHING ! The car wants to start .( it hears that way.. ) but nothing.. Sorry for my bad english .. but i had no where else to go and point for help ! in my city there are no Alfa ROmeo dealers and i am the only one in my city that has an alfa romeo 75... so please... HELP ME ! Thank You

To me it sounds like it needs a very good service at the least....

Re: Alfa Romeo 75 Problem!

Yep

Replace spark plugs, HT (spark plug leads), air filter, oil filter, oil, ALL hoses, brake fluid, brake pads, flexible brake hoses (you can't be too careful). All the rubber bits would've perished over the time the car has stood. I would also drain the petrol tank to get rid of stale fuel and fit an inline fuel filter to catch any crud from the inside of the tank.

This is IMHO standard procedure for any car that has been stood for any length of time.

Re: Alfa Romeo 75 Problem!

As well as the service stuff, I'd get the brakes checked out; maybe the master cylinder has gone?
