75 2.0TS buying tips please!

Hi everyone!

I'm looking at a couple of 75's over the next couple of days. Both are 2.0TS's and are later models (1992).

It there anything in particular that I should look out for when buying? I've had a good few older cars now and am reasonable handy with the spanners, so should be okay on the basics, but if there's anything particular to the model I would be grateful.

Many thanks,

rust under rear wheels arches in corner often needs a spot welding in there its a corner and fills with water alfa used a sponge lining in the wheel arch that collects water. Rear boot floor panels often go as do around the rear lights. Transition should be vibration free and not clank ie doughtnouts need replacing. Don`t worry about the warning light disco they all do that. Give it some left foot and check for vibrations again transmition can be expensive to replace
lots of the guys know far more than me and I sure will help

I`m getting mine tomorrow.

Re: 75 2.0TS buying tips please!

couple of bits from me:

the later 2.0s had Recaro seats, great but the material often wears out, this material is no longer available, similar weave can be found but not colour. Buying a scrap interior is not easy as everyone has the same problem, so factor the hassle/cost in.

on the 2.0 the fuel tank often leaks at the top where the join is through rust, a canny seller will only half fill the tank, so get underneath and give it a good sniff, again tanks are NLA.

Front jacking points are a weakness through rust

sagging headlining common, PITA to do but cheap enough

second gear crunch almost normal until warm

most of all it should be fun
