Rear is fantastic.. it should remain pretty much the same except the light (will use the MiTo ones). The front (which i'm not so entusiasth of) will be changed, or at least the front lights will... but no more details on that.. i really hope the front will be more aggressive than the prototype one, i'd like something more toward the new Viper's front end.. also the side should stay pretty much the same, except for the air intake which will be redesigned... engine seems to be confirmed to be the new alluminium 1750@240 HP, weight should be at 920kg.
These are the rumors in the last days in italy.

Weight is a little higher than initially planned..

I heard from an Alfa Romeo source that:

Rear will have MiTo/8C lights
Air intake will change
The blue slivers around headlights wont be there
The rear wont have the "petal" style lights
But the engines I was told is the curreny 1750TBi as in the Giulietta QV (bottom of range engine), then the new Aluminum 1.8l 300bhp for a "GTA" version!

I love everything about this car.. Including the front end

Yes, not by too much though (btw, weights seem to be the biggest problem to handle)

They have probably decided to use just one engine in two steps... also, the new alluminium engine should shave some weight compared to the old one.

I was told a weight saving of 30kgs over the current TBi.. So perhaps use the new engine.. One mapped to 240bhp, the other more 300bhp..

The gearbox? A new TCT? Current one wont manage with that power?

It is reported to be a TCT... there have been rumors that will be a different TCT because the one use on the Giulietta seem not to fit for a RWD, torque wise should be fine.

Amazing how excited I get about any little bit of news about this car...

Had my google alert for the 4C removed.. To stop me from my obsession with this car.

Will now patiently wait till I can order one

Fully Rebuilt Spider

I pick up our new Mito last week and ask the guy at Northgate dealers about the 4C, he said this car will be priced around £55,000 now, seems like Alfa won't be selling it at the £35,000 mark after all.

Topgear reported from the start the car will cost around £45 000.. So we will have to wait and see.

They cant make the car to expensive otherwise people are gonna go and buy Porsches for the same kind of money...

Yes, i think there's not much more to do... my guess is nobody knows really how much it will cost, not even Alfa Romeo: the main problem they have in developing the car is indeed keeping the weight, performance and price around the target price they had at he beginning.
45K + taxes is indeed something in the 50ish.. and you are not going to find much (if anything) at around that price that matches the promised performances

That's exactly my though when someone reported the 70K price.... you cannot make it as expensive (italian prices) as a Cayman R, 20K more expensive than a 1M and over 10K more expensive than an M3 and think people will buy it (well, at least not in Italy where german cars tend to be much more preferred than italian ones..)

I'm guessing most of those rumours are just that: rumours.

850kg, 235bhp, £35-45k is absolutely NOT the same as 920kg, 240bhp, £50-70k.

I am not a buyer at 950kg or over £50k, so I'll take my deposit back, reluctantly wave good-bye to the G QV and buy a BMW M3 with a bucket load of options instead. For me this is a "once in a lifetime" / mid-life crisis purchase, and I am in no mood to compromise.

It will still sell, but it cannot possibly do what the car needs to do for ALFA if the latest uninformed chatter has any basis. This car *must* break ALFA into the USA, and be a "halo car" for them. For $110000, savvy modern tech aware US buyers will walk away and go visit their Merecedes dealer for a new SL (and get change).

We also need to remember that (with very few exceptions) dealers know less than journalists, and journalists know only what the PR team tell them, and the PR team don't talk to engineering. Most dealers are mostly trying to get you to buy -today- so they can meet a target. They don't want you to think about a car that might be on sale in a year or two. They need to meet this quarter's target to get paid.

Tracing prices on the web gives us this:
Mar 2011 - £30,000 - £35,000 ($45,000 - $50,000)
Aug 2011 - £38,000 - £40,000
Dec 2011 - £38,000 - £45,000 (€53,000)
Mar 2012 - £45,000 (USA $54,000 - $70,000)

Nothing indicating more than that.

Agreed, expecially with the axe on the prices of used supercars (at least here in italy)... a 2003 F360 is now at around 40K... for 50K in 2013 you would most probably able to get an F430

For that prices a US petrolhead would probably buy a Viper...

I'm the first one to say that the price rumors i got are pretty much useless and nothing to rely on... it was just to report what's been telling around... but the other details are quite realistic, and are from people either working on the car or directly knowing someone that is working on it (of course remember they cannot tell anything, and may be even be told to say something that is not exactly what's happening...)

Yes i take everything with a pinch of salt.. Even from my source at Alfa Romeo.

Again we will just have to wait and see.

I still think the initial £45,000 that was reported is a good price for this car.. Its not overly cheap that everyone can just buy one, but its not more expensive than the cars they pitting it against...

Im happy with 920kgs if there is a high output engine (300bhp)..
