but no news of RHD, and clearly they don't know that the 1750 TBi already puts out more than 230bhp (or 225bhp on the dyno) in a Giulietta (typical lazy journo!)

It does, but not continuously, as it relies on "overboost" to get to 235 bhp. The 4c engine will also be based on an alloy block for weight saving so they are justified I guess in calling it a new engine.
RHD - anybody's guess how they will estimate demand from RHD markets and where they plant the increased costs of tooling. Watch this space

I dont trust any of these news articles.
Will rather wait for official press statements from Alfa Romeo/FIAT since the news articles hardly seem to agree on anything about the 4C! All patiently wait for Alfa to tell us whats what.
Edit: Got an email from someone within FIAT and they rubbished the report saying its only available in 2014 and stated production will start in next year and it will be in both RHD and LHD

Reason: Received details from FIAT

According to autoedizione the TCT will be "adjusted" to handle the 1750TBi (173kw) engine power... so it will then in all likelyhood be adjusted to handle the power of the 224kw 4C too..

Supposedly the TCT needs to be adjusted for the TCT regardless of the engine power

Instead, the 4C is likely to get a version of this transmission adapted for mid-engined installation.

According to Italiaspeed today there will not be a 4C on display at the forthcoming Geneva show. If this turns out to be true (which is by no means a certainty given it is Italiaspeed) then I find that staggering..

And why is this? what's to be seen of the prototype has been seen already, there was nothing new since the presentation, except a new paint, the production model presentation is expected no earlier than in september or so... i don't see any point in bringing back to geneva the same old prototype we already know save money and time and keep working on the real thing instead

What they should do is bring the car to the LA Auto Show, in November. The Fiat 500 got a great reception there, when they debuted the US version in 2010.

Too early... rumors are the road version of the 4C will be presented in EU in September, and start selling in secondo half of 2013 in EU... 2013 presented in US, and start selling in US in 2014.

More than rumours Ricky:
A FIAT insider response to me:
" Dear Mr. Grobler,
Thank you for contacting Fiat Group Automobiles and for your interest in our brand.
Concerning your request, I kindly inform you that according to the announcement made by our Executive Vice-President during the Frankfurt Motor Show 2011, the Alfa Romeo 4C is going to be a global car, so it will be available in all countries.
The new Alfa Romeo 4C will begin production in 2013, but at present we still dont have the launch date for South Africa.
Assuring you of our best attentions.
Yours sincerely,"

that's very good news... btw my definition of "rumors" is anything i get to know and i don't have a personal knowledge and confirmation on it
Another good news is that any people i know (and have good reasons to trust) and that have contacts in FGA confirm the work on the 4C is going on, and should deliver on planned schedule.
Fingers crossed on that, and that will respect all the promises

I think it will take until 2014 to go to sale worldwide. If it goes to production in lets say September 2013 it will take until the start of 2014 for the cars to be delivered

Well the FIAT okes in SA said it will reach SA in Q3/Q4 of 2013...
So I will probably be able to place an order in Q1/Q2 of 2013...

Swire(the local dealer) already got 20+ order, no way you can get the car in 2014 if all their order is executed provided that the estimated production is 5000 per year.
