well it seems like there is no hard and fast rule on the foam thing, but as toad says it is probably worth fitting anyway for the obvious noise/draught benefit
interesting what alfa302 says about the hand-brake mounting points. my car also has the slots in the floor pan behind
the lever so a rear cable could be fitted. don't think suds ever had rear hand-brakes though?
the exhaust front pipe situation took another turn yesterday though, put an order in for a new one at the quoted £37 but had a call back within minutes to say it was no longer in stock at the supplier and no more would be made. they tried another specialist for me who had it in stock, but at £119
don't know why but i then remembered i still had the old one somewhere behind my shed, threw away the rest of it but kept the front pipe as it wasn't too bad.
found it tonight and cleaned it all down and thankfully it looks ok for a year or so
gave it a coat of "very high temperature paint" that is supposed to be suitable for exhaust manifolds so that should help prolong its days a bit more
checked it first and it fits just fine
loads of clearance around the brakes, it should do though as it came off the car originally
getting my alternator back tomorrow at last, got the call today to say it's done, needed a few bits and pieces doing plus a clean up. hope it looks ok but for £28 all done i'm not complaining
