You seem keen to keep thr car original, so I am a bit puzzled why you are choosing a non-standard steering wheel?
I know it's got a larger diameter, but the original does look right, and with a bit of dish does help to give you a bit more leg room.
there is an alfa badge that goes in the centre, i presumed it was an original one? i got it from one of the banger racers, has the correct fittings, calcelation for the indicators etc
the one that was on the car was a wooden rimmed one which i don't particularly like as i find them too slippy, plus all the lacquer has peeled off around the rim
is the momo one i have not from an options list or anything
i do want to keep it original as you say, with the alfa badge i think it should be ok?
easy enough to change i guess
got the shed tidied up eventually, hell of a mess in there.
fished the gearbox out to have a look at it, not seen it for over a year
bolted it to the engine stand then took the calipers off which have siezed outer adjuster nuts and seals that look far from their best, so will look into getting fresh ones.
off with the sump expecting to find a mess only to be pleasantly surprised
the oil was in good condition, no metal filings, and on closer inspection the expected wear on teeth etc doesn't look too bad. thought there should have been a cross brace under the diff though
going to ring bls tomorrow to see if they have the seals and gaskets i need, might take a chance on this 'box being ok despite me never haven tried it and it not been run since 2000
also found the original speedo dials in the loft. i had thought about setting some back to zero and starting from there, but the orignals show 4 miles more than it's last MOT failure sheet in 2000 so that will continue it on nicely and keep the history continuous
