Re: Sud front wheelbearing locknut special tool
I had the same problem with my bearings, as I had to remove them and mount them into specially cast aluminium uprights for the Nova. After a false start with a large hex socket (which had the right diameter but the wrong number of flats), a friend of mine had a tube of suitable diameter spark eroded to the required dimensions. Theres a hole in the tube for a tommy bar and that's it.
It sits in the back of my garage, gathering dust for most of the year, but I still look it out now and again to re-check/re-tighten the bearings (my nearside loosened off a bit over 4000 miles...).
The old nuts can be re-used as long as they don't get too mangled around the retaining collar when they are staked. I usually try to tap out the staking before trying to move the nut with the tool otherwise it can score the hub.
Alfanauts are GO!!!
