Re: look what someone left on there drive
The offending vehicle here is mine, I've just been pointed to this site by a member who called about the Alfasud. Been looking for a site like this for years - obviously not hard enough!
As I told him, I've just listed the car on ebay and there's been a bid on it so I'm going to let the auction run. I'm not chasing cash for it, I just want it to go to a good home, but it's not fair on the bidder, whoever he may be, if I pull it now.
When Kev came round and I got the call, I assumed it was just a gypsy after some scrap metal otherwise I'd have been there in a flash, sorry. Really all I want is for the car to go to a good home and for someone to do their best with it.
The car was immaculate when I got it in '99ish and I used it daily. However, as the weather turned cold and the electrics got damp, it became a weekend car. I spent what, at the age of 20, seemed like a lot of money on it with, believe it or not, about the only thing not needing touching being the bodywork! When it was finally retired it did start in dry storage, whilst out of the country, it was 'dumped' where it now stands.
To be honest I'm embarassed about the way it has gone and, if I could, I would have it back to the former glory but unfortunatley I'm not up to the challenge at the moment.
It'll be a sad day when it does eventually go, I've had some great times with it - waiting until dark so I can see where the sparks are flying, waiting for it to warm up in the sun before even TRYING to start it, at least I've got some good memories to go with the piles of rust!
Anyway, as I said, the car's on ebay now and I'm letting it run. If I'm let down by the bidder(s) I've promised to call Tal (he's also got a 1.2 TI that looks pretty much mint). Other than that, anyone who'd interested please get in touch - I think the auction ends on Tuesday night. I'd like to car to go again, but I do appreciate the work involved, just want to see it in a good home.
Any comments, apart from 'what a mess' - I know that already - much appreciated. And Kev, sorry I took so long to call you, but just think of all the welding I've saved you!
PS. If the person bidding on the car on ebay is here somewhere, please give me a call or send me a message, I'd like to know who you are and that your intentions are good! Thanks.
