Re: Boxer thrust bearings - Help
That is a bit of an unusual problem to have. I guess an oil supply issue caused it?
I would suggest that you need to get the crank refaced to prevent it from eating through the new thrust bearings but I reckon the thrust bearings are made of harder stuff than main or big end bearings.
I have a Boxer rebuild manual which shows the oversize options for the bearings if it helps. Just PM me an email address and I'll send it.
I guess to get 1740 you have bored out that block so it would be a shame to scrap it.
1.6 (from the 145/146) and 1.7 8 and 16v cranks are all the same so there should be a good supply. I have a complete 1.7 16v engine in my shed that I'm flogging for £100. You might find the bits you need out of that (crank & thrust bearings) for less than the price of getting anything machined.
