Re: 1982 1.5 Green Cloverleaf "Redline"
Thanks V6, that's good advice. Bearing wear seems to be the limiting factor in most engines that are regularly taken "to the max", as it were.
I'm pretty sure my centrifugal cut-out is set no higher than 6800 rpm (I will check tomorrow, there's a label on the side of the rotor arm with the cut-out speed stamped on it), so I should be OK.
Engine is nearly new (just over 3000 miles so far), but was laid up (still on its factory shipping crate) for 20 years and when it was re-commissioned one of the inlet valves was found to be cracked, which was strange. Replaced with an altogether older item from my 78000 mile 1.5 Ti (circa 1978), so I guess if anything is going to let go at full noise, it will be that!
Thanks for the replies,
