33 Series III Shocks & Carburettor Help
Good Morning My Fellow Alfisti,
I am back with another problem and question, I'd appreciate your help.
Firstly I was wondering if the shock absorbers / Mc Pherson struts on the 33 differ from the AlfaSud's. I own 2 Suds and have noticed that when going over our wonderfully potted roads in Malta you don't feel anything, any bumps are absorbed and it gives you a very comfortable ride. The 33 on the otherhand is a little different, according to my mechanic and by checking them out myself, they seem to be fine. The problem is that I feel the bumps as if no shocks were there, road holding is fine but the bumps arent absorbed as well as the sud. Is there any reason why this is so ? Are they stiffer than the Sud's ?
Secondly I have a problem in my carbs, I've got Twin Dell'Orto's on my 33 and have been completely serviced and re-kitted by my mechanic. The car was running great although it seamed a little slow on Idling. Well 2 - 3 weeks later I noticed that the car was idling really slow at times and kept on turning off. To extremes as at one point it didn't even start or keep running without me pressing the gas pedal. Now I know that the carb's are clean however my mechanic told me that there could be water in the fuel tank and its causing the carbs to clog up. Now the option for me is to remove the tank and have it cleaned and the carbs blown with high pessure to clean the jets. So I used some Water Remover from a quality brand and used some fuel conditioner to make it run better and fix the problem.
At first it worked but still was stalling on me after a few mins, so I had the carbs adjusted to increase richen the fuel on idling. I hate doing this but it seems to start working or at least the chemicals are doing their job. Did anyone ever encounter such troubles ? And if so how did you solve it.
I really appreciate your help guys, thanks alot,
