147 2.0ltr twinspark motor into an alfasud
Good day gentleman,
thinking of starting a project that entails transplanting a 145 Ti 2.0ltr twin spark engine into a alfasud, 1980 ti for racetrack use.
being unable to afford the extensive mods needed to update a 1.7 16V boxer to get more than 170hp and thought it maybe time to look at engine alternatives. Has anybody to your knowledge successfully completed a project similar to this, as parts pistons rings and other bits and pieces for 16v boxers are becoming seriously stupid in the price dep't and rare, especially in my part of the world NZ. Considering using a modified front end engine bay off 145 and transplanting/welding it onto front of alfasud forward of the firewall, to avoid problems with geometry setup etc and using new or existing panelling to "paste over and create and original alfasud front end".. For racing in the GTA junior unlimited class in NZ.
any leads to in any direction would be grateful, as the twin spark engines lends itself to some serious tuning and extra power output and are relatively commonplace. any laughs, leads or advice be it good or bad, pictures of other similar race cars if they have been converted would be great.
thanks in advance for any replies. rgds Rosco.
