final drive hub oil leak alfasud

had an oil leak from the oil seal on the diff axle
put the car up on ramps , made myself comfortable
disconnect drive shafts , slacken off brakes, remove disk
4 more bolts and the inner hub pulls out.
how easy (dont forget to catch the oil)

now to pull it apart
the thing is pressed together with a threaded ring at the bottom
had to make a special tool like a pipe with an internal thread
of 39mmx1.5mm to pull it apart
that took a week and a few favours

the shaft had pitted where the oil seal works
why would steel rust in oil?
so i got a different width oil seal 47x35x7 instead of original 47x35x12
so the seal works on a different part of the the shaft

put it back together with a new bearing and o-ring
and it still leaks
any sugesstions

thanks enri

Re: final drive hub oil leak alfasud

Did you measure the size of the shaft?

I've replaced several seals on my old beasty and it still leaks...but at least I know there's oil in it
