So the AFR reads 11-12 in this rev range? Isn't that a bit too rich? I thought the optimum stoichiometric reading would be 15:1 at WOT power?
That said, if you are running rich under load, why the pinging, which is normally a symptom of a lean mixture?
Very mysterious, unless it is all down to the jungle juice you call fuel over there!
I've read many times that the optimum is 11-12.5 for power.
15.1 for complete burning, emissions and all that, but power no.
Yes you are right, richening should actually cool things down and reduce the risks of pinging.
I'm going to slide some tubing over the weight end stops to reduce the max advance like I did on my old dizzy. This new one has a nice low rev power curve which i don't want to lose.
things are a bit tight at the moment so no chance of rolling roads or wasted spark set ups.
Bit of trial and error.
I think it is down to the jungle juice down here.
wish I could get hold of some good 98 RON.
I could possibly get hold of some race fuel to try. (that of course would be a one off to try)
