Alfa 33 head lining problems

Just bought a 1988 Alfa 33 1.5 to replace my wife's Sprint which is now a parts car for my Sprint!
Problem is with the 33 headlining. It seems to be made of moulded cardboard covered with a decorative finish which has now gone flakey and powdery. Has anyone tried to fix this problem? The shape is too difficult and convoluted to cover with vinyl. I am thinking along the lines of a painted on finish once it is sealed. Any ideas?

Re: Alfa 33 head lining problems

I don't think you'll be able to paint it as the carboard will become soggy and go funny. You can buy news headlinings from Alfa UK for about £120 I believe.

Re: Alfa 33 head lining problems

Or get a profesional re-trimmer to bung a new covering on it.
