Fuel smell

My S2 Sprint smells heavily of fuel after I've driven it and I fear that I have to replace the tank. Some questions though:

- I didn't have this problem until I overfilled the tank and fuel came out somewhere around the tank. Could it be some ventilation hose or similar that that broke and causes the problem? Or do I have to replace the tank?
- If I have to replace the tank, which should I get? Are the 33 and Sprint tanks the same?
- The engine is replaced with a fuel injected 16v. Do I have to have a tank from a fuel injected car? Something in the back of my head tells me that it's something with pressure, or something

Could be the filler pipe, the tank vent, or the tank. You'd really need to have a look. The breather system is at the back of the tank and easy-ish to check out from underneath. I think all carbed sud sprint and 33 tanks are the same (maybe), but injected ones are different and so are 4wd/P4 tanks.

Thats true. Tanks for carbed models are the same (no fuel return pipe), IE tanks are different to carbed tanks - IE tanks come in two different types on the location of the fuel return pipe and sender unit. Finally P4 are unique and completely different to all other types.

Be sure to check for leaks as already stated at:

- fuel filler hose just behind the fller neck
- angled hose located on the tank inlet
- breather hose ( a small 8mm hose from the tank to the plastic filler neck)
- tank bottom and/or seams
