Last weekend I did some work in my 33, changing the timing belts, tensioners and water pump. Everything went fine.
The next day I noticed my volt meter was reading low when cruising so I decided to go to my friends garage and do some measurements.
What I can say is that the alternator is not charging as it should under load (lights on, heater, rear window heater, ect).
the reading are:
@ idle without load ---13.8v
@ idle with most of the things turned on---a significant drop @ about 12.5v
when I turn the car on the battery light stays on unless I rev the engine @ about 1500-1800 rpm.
Forgot to mention that the car had not moved for some 3 weeks, before I replaced the belts and water pump.
What do you guys think, is it just the voltage regulator @ the back of the alternator or something else. brushes were changed 7 months ago.
Any idea? It's driving me mad
once you fix something...something else needs repair or changed. How can I get a good voltage regulator. The one in ebay I found was a Chinese.
I run the BOSCH alternator.
