16V heads with carbs
Hi all. I've just been given the opportunity to change my Sud's 1.7 8V heads with the 16V ones from a deceased 33 1.7 16V engine. I plan to keep my two twin Dellorto DRLA 40mm carbs. Has anyone done this? Is there anything to watch for?
I know the 8V and 16V blocks are pretty much the same and that i'll have to replace the engine pistons with those from the 16V engine with valve recesses. Other than that i've been told that the only difficult part will be the intake pipes that will have to be custom made. I've also been told that the carbs will need bigger jets -sounds reasonable- and that we may have to raise idling speed to about 1500rpm because the engine will not be able to idle steadily at lower revs. Any truth in this?
