Behind pedal is the push rod, around this is the filter, just a piece of foam if I remember correctly. Is the rear compensator ok? It's in a vulnerable position (by rear axle) and mine seized. There are 2 types, the difference being the no. of inlet/outlet pipes. Mine also benefited from stainless Goodridge pipes. Also check free movement of rear shoes, I had to shave some metal off a replacement set I fitted sometime ago as hand brake was nigh on ineffective but after would lock up rear wheels at 40 mph when pulled on. To be honest the brakes have never impressed except in emergencies when the adrenalin must have kicked in. Some cars I believe are over-servoed so if you are used to one of these then the 33 brakes will feel quite different.
