Okay, let me start by saying at this point i am not considering a fully blown blueprinted engine rebuild here, but i am installing a 1.7 twincarb 33 motor to replace my seized at racetrack 1.5 twincarb in my 1987 SPRINT.
What are some simple but effective things / improvements / mods i should consider / do whilst the engine is generally overhauled before being fitted? (timing belts will be done. of course). It is primarily a track car with only driving done to / from circuit until i can source a cheap trailer and tow car.
what about side venting the exhaust? Extractors will be built for it as my existing handbuilt ones will be too thin for the 1.7.
I am not sure about cams at this time either as i want to get it done and back on the racetrack ASAP. Unless there is a cheap? option.
Thoughts, comments? The car is as modified and lightened as it can be and still remain road legal in Oz. for pics, check out www.trofeoalfasud.com
and look for Fast Eddie 888 in the competitors section.
p.s. i am also looking for a front spoiler/wing form a pre 1983 steel bumpered SPRINT to be modded and fitted to my 98 sprint. Can anyone help? I live in Melbourne, so unless it can be posted, i am only considering Australian or NZ origin.
