Thought I would break cover on my new project, its actually another members (fluffyduff) old project but he has his hands full with his other cars and I thought I'd have a crack at it.
His thread on the car can be found here
It's a four door 1.3 alfasud built in 82, but not registered till 85 (I think) its been restored once before I'd guess in the 90's era of body filler. It's in very good condition overall but has a few areas that will need attention in the not too distant future (windscreen surround is a main one). Although Frank had a fair crack at the floor pan and sills so saved me a job!
The car came with a load of parts but with engine and box removed (see franks thread!)
I am relocating in a few months and have a baby on the way so time is tight so my immediate plan is to convert to outboard brakes and drums and put in the 1.7 8v lump that came with the car.
I have the outboard bit done and have the engine on the bench with all the injection system and ancillaries stripped, next would have been the rear drum conversion but I got a 'sport' interior from a 156 for free so had a faff about with that today. Made up some brackets to widen the 156 front seat mounts to accept the sud seat rails, they need finishing but all the measuring and welding is done.
I am by no means a restorer or a mechanic and I have a very limited budget. I'm lucky with the booty I got with the sud and the 33 parts I already had but my aim is to do this with a little cash and lots of elbow grease.
I will try and upload a couple of pics now, quick one, does anyone recognise the alloys I have? I bought them a couple of years back for my 33 but have no idea who manufactures them. The logo on them is a kind of RG thing. Any ideas?
