Moaning P4 drive problems..

Hi everyone

I've just bought my second P4 (Glutton for punishment!) and its got a bit of a problem with the 4x4.

When I picked it up, it was working OK - no problems with the visco, all good there.

The 4x4 light isn't working - either the bulb is out or its been removed (Grrr) - this obviously wouldn't normally be a problem - you know when its working as soon as you put your foot down!

When I picked up the car and turned on the ignition, you could hear the EM coupling pick up. No problem. Now however, when ignition goes on, you hear it pick up, then drop a second or so later!

I've already looked at the switch on the brake pedal, that had been sticking but is now sorted, but I'm still having the problem. Anyone able to help? Is it possible the ECU wants resetting as a result of the brake pedal switch not moving while the braking sensor has been when I brake?

Any help appreciated

Re: P4 drive problems..

I had this once but the dealer fixed it, so I don't know what it was. But it was a simple fix carried out as part of a service. I got the impression it was either a new relay or a re-set. Hopefully yours is too.
