FIXED, FIXED, FIXED, FIXED - Hooraaaaay.
Managed to fix one of the major electrical problems!!
With the lights (main beam etc and other similar bits) not working, I thought I would head for bed last night and just think through all of the things I had done / not done.
With being a race / track day car there were a couple of long strands off loom in the car that were just no use to me, so in a moment of stupidity I just flicked the isolator to 'off' wrapped some tape around and cut through them. They were a couple of loom strands to things like the heater, cigarette tray light, glove box light, etc that got 'trimmed'. Not a great deal of wires - but they were just straggly and getting in the way. I knew I didn't need the wires so I though 'oh, what the less, let's get rid.....'
Thought about this last night in bed before dropping off ....... and thought there are possibly some earths that pass through that little lot that have lost their ground! So, just went out to the car, stripped 4 black cables, twisted them together, turned all the lighting and dash lighting problems to where they should be (switching) and everything works - hoo hoo ray!
Forgot to check if the dash illumination works - but although that is an MOT requirement, is probably the least of my worries!
So, starting to make good progress along my pre-MOT list. The GTA track car is booked into the garage for an MOT on Thursday, so as that is the daily driver that can go first, after that the 33 will follow.
Going to try and sort out the gearbox speedo issue over the weekend. Means dropping the gearbox out on the driveway! She is not going to be happy
but at least she has the whole weekend to get over it.
