Indentifying Age Of Alfa 33 By Engine
Hi. Is it possible to identify the age of the Alfa 33 that my engine came from by any markings on the engine? The engine is all I have as it's in my kit car.
The reason I ask is because many places that sell spares ask the obvious question - "What age is your vehicle?", or "what's the registration plate?". I can't answer these questions as I bought the engine and never knew what age 33 it came from. It would also be good just for general knowledge.
Even if I can't get it spot on it would be good to have a range such as 87-90.
The engine plate says AR30550 which I've identified as a 33 1.7 QV (I know I have a 1.7 118bhp so this is accurate)
Under that marking on the same plate it has: D006006 What is this number for?
Near the plate, stamped on the engine is: E130432 What is this number for?
It also has '87' stamped on the top on the other side.
On the underside of the engine it has 1750. What is this number for?
A good example of needing to know this when I see on a website where I can buy HT leads, the choices they offer are as follows:
Alfa Romeo 33 / Sprint 1.7 SOHC 8v (carb) (4 Cyl) From Years: 1987-90
Alfa Romeo 33 1.5ie / 1.7ie (4 Cyl) From Years: 1987-91
Alfa Romeo 33 1.7 SOHC 8v (carb) (4 Cyl) From Years: 1986-89
I'm not sure why the second one omits 'SOHC'. Is mine an SOHC?
Although I don't know the exact year I think that the year range of mine is 1986 - 1989
Thanks for any help.
