Car turns on by itself.....
After my wet car dramas (it is dry now) my 33 has some new eccentricities that I would like to resolve.
The car will now, of its own accord, turn on its ignition. All by itself. No key, nothing.
The car still runs and drives, great actually. When I stop the car, probably 50% of the time the warning lights stay on and often a 'pulse' will go through the system causing the speedometer to spike, then settle. The engine stops fine, but it looks like the ignition is still on, even though the key has been removed.
Then at random times throughout the day, the ignition 'turns on' all by itself. All warning lights come on, radio, etc. During one of these episodes I can hear/feel the relays cycle like they would especially the one located under the steering wheel with the 30A fuse in it. I guess this is the main relay.
Other things that might help reveal the true nature of the gremlin. Nearly 6 months ago now the main beam came on all by itself and could not be turned off without pulling the relay. The dip switch does not do anything (except turn the dip beam off when I cycle the main beam). Just a few days ago I got a loud (scared the crap out of me) sound through the stereo (after market). I turned the radio off, then back on and the drivers front speaker started to smoke. I changed the fade to full rear and the radio worked for another day, then no sound. Now it turns itself on (all by itself), but no sound, and when turned off I get static through the speakers. Again all randomly occurring.
Another thing thing is the A/C (yes it works great) has started misting. I think the drain pipes are blocked. I wonder if water is getting into some of the electrics from here causing all this mischief. The car does have a dank smell that I can't get rid of even though it is dry.
I think I either need a priest to exorcise the demons or the Ghost Busters.
