Re: Size of Carbs in 1.7 QV ?
Ok, I just pulled a main jet and emulsion tube from a stock 1.7 motor. Weber 40mm carbs (jetting should be similar). 142 sounds right
Main = 140
Emulsion tube = F67
Main air jet on top of emulsion tube = 190
Float level setting I think is 9 - 9.5mm
Float level shouldn't be a prob unless someone has messed with it.
Lemme know if you need info on how to check float level.
If the above is all ok then you should be sweet. I presume you've also checked plugs and/or fauly leads, cap and rotor?
It's possible alfa used 36's on cold climate vehicles as the air density would be better etc. Perhaps thats why no NZ or Aussie alfa's have 36's.
Ultimately the 40's have to be much better than 36's, so I'd try and get them sorted as if you want to go to trumpets(velocity stacks) and extractors, you struggle to get any more power out of the 36's.
