silkolene (fuchs group) certainly make a fine oil.
i've used nothing but silkolene and motul semi synth 10/40 grades in all my race bike engines and performance cars over the years, without one single machanical failure, or notable wear, so i can vouch along with Kev that poor experiences stick, along with the good ones too hopefully.
if its good enough for 16000rpm, or 200bhp per litre, i think it should survive in our boxer engines pretty well!
some of the older oils, mostly started in the 80's if i recall, were all about gimmick and advertising rather than just good oil, all the magnetic particles, and an audi coupe carving through a pack of 1950's grand prix competitors! yeah right!
and now we have nanodrive, nanotech and nanny state, (Ooops!)
hinting at miniature robots clinging to your cold cam lobes, licking them with lubricated tongues supplied by glands of unobtanium liquid!
no wonder its nearly £20 per litre eh! they had to pay Professor Hawkins a fortune just to come up with the slogan!
sorry fella's, i rant a little about oils, mainly because i really don't buy into all the blurb and rubbish, and steer well clear of all the liquid gold shelf altogether,
but i have always recommended a decent and engine appropriate oil, normally semi synth, and change it plenty often, and a proper flush doesn't hurt either.
thats my two penneth, again
