Alfa 33 Imola: Engine Hesitation and Cut Off.
My 1993 Alfa 33 has developed a most annoying fault that manifests differently as follows;-
1. Starting very well but later the engine experiences a momentary hesitation
2. Some times you get a series of these momentary hesitations leading to jerking, which disappear either when you ease off or press down the accelerator
3. Some times the hesitation leads down right to engine cut off, especially while idling and waiting at traffic lights. It will start readily though
4. On occasions, as it tends to a shut-down, the day may be saved by repeated strokes on the accelerator pedal while on others the engine would defiantly cut-off.
In the meantime I have replaced the fuel injectors and intake air temperature sensor at different times, and each time there appears to be some improvement before deterioration takes over. I now consider the car a real danger to life and have now rested it until a real solution is found. Let me add that often times it runs so well that you feel like celebrating, and which celebration is bound to be short-lived and premature, however.
Any suggestions will be most appreciated.
