A couple of engines dropped out yesterday... a good reminder of how well designed our boxer beauties are... my 1500 c/w all ancillaries was a pleasure to free up and drop, straight forward & simple.
Then the alien ford ... what a mare of a job (not helped I guess by having never worked on one previously), clutch cable pita, gear linkage pita, dropping and wriggling to get the bugger out pita... ... anyway it's out and ready to be stripped (not by me) to see if it's a basket of bits or something simple... have to say it sounded terminal.
#68's engine & box will be stripped of the discs & calipers along with gear linkage, then it's ready for a trip south for a refresh at Brunswick, feeling more in control of my car this time, hopefully the engine and box will be turned around in 2-3 weeks, back up the road and installed in good time for this coming season... not sure what the season has in store but at the very least #68 will be ready.
Today we tackle our first waterpump on a v6 along with the exhaust on the 156... should be fun (yep got the cam lock tools
) ... also have a customer coming in to work on his lovely GTV 2.0 ... assuming time goes in our favour we'll get #67 on the lift later this afternoon and begin the process of checking the geometry which hopefully will lead to simple set up and body repairs.
Feels good to be alive...
