Madame Sud

Last weekend I took the Sud out for the first time in about a year. It was my first full circuit race event - we usually do club time trials and regularity. Did a bit of work on the car in the lead up - put in polycarbonate windows and fibreglass bonnet and boot lid (from Bob Wright).

Although I qualified well, I got monstered off the line mostly due to lack of experience and couldn't make back positions easily. The balanced and ported but relatively stock 1.5 really isn't up to the challenge and I think it's finally time to build a new race engine. Shame - this one has been so reliable, has run for several seasons and lots of track time and endurance events.

My most enjoyable time was race 3 and 4, with close racing with some slower competitors:

If you're excited you can follow links to the other two races on youtube, and some other clips of the field.

What a hoot. I love our little Sud, it takes an absolute punishing all the time and comes back for more!
