Hi guys,
My Sprint needs new rear shocks, can I buy koni's for my car in New Zealand? or what is a good alternative and where can I get them from?

Cheers

Call Parts Plus in Wellington. Or try any specialist suspension place like shock shop (do you have them down south) probably not Midas though. Koni's if you must have them are imported in NZ by a company called George Stock

Suspension Index - George Stock and Company Ltd.

But I doubt sud Konis are available new anymore.

You could buy blisteins from an OPEL KADET , the old one ! They are the same and work very nicely

If you want the part number I can have a look on mine.
You just need to mill the top ring to give it some clearance as they are a bit thicker. Nothing dramatic

aaron,

if you went for KONI's anyway, why didnt you use the ones that were intended for the Sprint to begin with ?

Are the escort ones shorter or stronger ?

Escort shocks are shorter. Also they are readly available, and I got them for $20. I had to order the front shocks and they took 3 months to get to the colonies, we did have a port despute at the time. The early sprints had the shocks on upside down, didnt they? My car is a late model 1.7. I describe it as a 33 in a tracksuit.

hahahahahahaha nice

mind you, you got the escort springs extremely cheap !!
Yes the older model sprints were upside down, and the ones that had inboard brakes and rear disc brakes had a square rear beam and longer shocks as well.

The later model's rear beam was the round shaped one like the 33
