Firstly thanks to all of you for your valuable advice. I have no reason to believe that this is anything other than a genuine Sud with a 1.7 engine and 1.7 body. The VIN number checks out as does the chassis number.. I will be showing the car in it's present state tomorrow at our Classic Sports and GT car show, Putteridge Bury, Luton from 10am until 4pm. Please feel free to see the car and discuss anything with me. I also have the original photos of the first owner with the car and the original bill of sale.
I also am led to believe that certain members for whatever reason seem to have a grudge against this particular member or ex member...would someone enlighten me as to what was the cause of this.

to clarify, ever since your car first for sale, it has been discussed on more than one thread, but it was a lot more to do with the behaviour of the seller than the car itself, which we have in general, always believed that to potentially be a fab car, if only there was a straight forward way of cutting through the smoke screens and sales tactics of the vendor.
the car and price completely yoyo'd, from being in need of attention to certain things to being the best sprint available, the price swung from under £2k to nearly £4k after having a rad cap replaced, and all ther time their was an under-current of suspicion because the vendor would sell it as one identity, and Big it Up as another, something they have repeated many times over the years, and has so far meant no less than half a dozen different identities and usernames if i recall.
i personally have no Grudge against them, in fact i had a few emails with them and discussed it between ourselves throughout your cars advert, and found him much more straight forward one on one, but i did try to tell him where he was going wrong!
it came to head when the root cause of a supposed loss of water, was first a rad cap, and then a few more things, but ultimately ended up being the head gaskets which we have been told have been done by Mark at West Sussex Alfa, and so should be spot on now,
do you kinda get why we had our supsicions?
all that aside, i sincerely hope it is as good as it should be, and as good as he wrote it up,
and if Mark has done his bit too, it should be Great!
If you don't mind me asking, just what is it like?
did we all give a pearler a wide berth?
at the end of the day, i'm glad someone bought it, and i'm glad you've joined up here, so no matter what, lets hope its all good eh!
