Curved trumpets / air horns

Hi folks,

What are people's opinions on the curved air horns that were supplied with the original Trofeo kit? I was told once by a guy who raced Suds and Sprints that they tested and found they were the best for horsepower, compared to an air box. I've been told also that the straight trumpets are problematic as there is a restriction if they are too close to the underside of the bonnet.

I'm interested to find a supplier for them. IF I went this way, they would need to fit DRLA 45s.

Had a 33 1.7 QV

Are they that much longer than the original curved air intakes of the alfa?

If you want unfiltered air why not just use the originals and place a gauze over them and polishing the insides to the smooth the air intake?

would have thought sucking in hot air doesn't help any...

wonder why they face opposite directions also

may have been the easiest way to get the length of trumpets with the bonnet clearance issue, as you say.

Maybe less turbulence created if they face away from each other!
