Whilst i've got your attention (Bryan!) you can let me know what you think to the other selfish shopping i've been up to!
When i pulled the engine and gearbox out my Sud to make way for the 16v, i sold the bundle without the carbs, although they were nothing special, drla 36's, i knew from previous experience that they sell very well on their own thanks to the veedub boys largely i suspect, but i have sold some 40's and a 90 degree manifold to an escort lad too!
anyway anyway! i stuck them on ebay, and soon found that Eurocarb were bidding on them, so i rang them and asked if instead of them bidding on mine then me spending the money with them, shall we have a deal between us directly, as i wanted to sort out some filtration for the lovely 45's i bought from you earlier.
after a bit of pushing and shoving, i got what i wanted, and we sent our repsective parcels out sharpish, so this is what else i'm treating myself to this year!
Now i know the carbs already had trumpets, but there is another side benefit to this little lot.
i measured the trumpets before speaking with Eurocarb, so that i knew exactly what i wanted to push for in the way of filters to suit, and found them to be 42mm in height and 40mm diameter, half radius tops.
I've always been led to believe that the trumpet opening should be close to half way up the height of the filter used, and i know the ITG's are about 90mm, so this was good, but thinking about the drla 40's that i also have earmarked for the 33 conversion, it got me thinking that they would sit even nicer on those carbs, than they do on these 45's,
so i pushed for new trumpets aswell, which are the full 45mm diameter and 48mm in height,
not a bad little bundle that i reckon, so my 45's are well sorted now, and the 40's have trumpets which i can use in my K & N filters as a bonus,
does that all sound good to you?
