Wheel Bearings

Hi , Advice, help needed,

Spent 2 hrs refurbishing a front hub of a 33 16v, fitted it back upto the
sud, (track car) which appeared to have 33 16v outboard set up, may be
1.7 8v, tried to refit the drive shaft and found that the spline was different,
are the drive shafts different on the 33, 6v and 8v towards the
sprint 1.7, 8v, any one else had the same problem,
The actual hub carriers look the same, do i just need to replace the wheel bearing?

All help appreciated, Liam

hi liam

oh the woes of modification eh?

i think colin or kev might have some knowledge of this area, as it was being discussed whilst we were at Paul Sandifords for your engine.

i'm sure they'll be along shortly

yep 8v and 16v are different Liam, I'v never changed one but i'v been doing some digging as my sud has 16v set up and one of the CV joints is warn which is causing vibration between 60/70. Anyway from what little i'v read the 16v has a bigger/deeper hub bearing so the 16v driveshaft has a narrower diameter spline at the end.

So if the spline is too big for your 16v refurbished hub then you'v got 8v driveshafts

Hope this helps

Got to the botttom of it, 1.7 8v set up from a sprint, took the plunge lost a good days progress,
going to fit the whole 16v hubs and shafts, ordered a set of new bearings while i,am at it, the
hubs and calipers came of a 42k car, so should be good.

Been there done that lol
got a replacement hub for my 16v and was given an 8v hub lol
Are there any differences in the 8v / 16v driveshaft lengths?
I ask because i will be fitting a sud box to my 16v soon, the output shafts have been changed for 33 ones and was in a ser 2.
