I thought there werent any apart from the valves and cams....
How wrong I was
Been rebuilding a Sprint Mk1 for a friend.
It's a 1.5 single webber model.
His cylinder heads were broken, cracked on the exhaust ports and coolant channels.
Managed to source another 2 heads from the same engine, and they were cracked as well at exact the same place - which made them impossible to weld with alloy.
I then got 2 1.5 Ti heads and after skimming, grinding, re-profiling the valves etc, I got them ready to go on the car.
I used his original valves and cams, because the ones from the Ti were a bit different.
Then to the tricky part, something I never even thought of measuring.
I tightened the heads on the engine (engine in the car), and the inlet manifold of the SC will not match the heads !
The struts - although shorter - will align, but the ports of the heads have a different offset than the other ones, so the port holes arent centered to the SC's intake manifold
So what are my options here ?
Can I convert it to a twin dellorto carb engine just like that ?
Obviously I cant scrap the heads and start looking for new ones, as I already spent 350 Euro at the machine shop to get all 6 of them checked, and the last two filled, skimmed re-profiled valves etc.
Anyone done this before ?
