I can only repeat the sentiments already written here,
a fantastic weekend for BLS, Tom's endless car preparation skills, put together what were clearly the best cars of the weekend, Bar None!
Hey! we knew that anyway, but the jubilance all round and the silverware to go along with it, was evidence that this clean sweep was really something quite special for everyone.
Firstly, after the indignant and untimely departure from the Alfashop Championship last year at Snetterton, Bryans 33 16v engine has undergone an amazing rebuild into its current spec. Not an easy task from any aspect, but a clean sweep of both class and overall victories, Saturday and Sunday, is proof once more that the BLS squad are absolutely at the top of their game.
Dare I say it, I even think the car had a relatively easy time of it too, and according to Bryan, the engine has still not been used harshly at its newly increased rev ceiling, so an excellent drive, of a superbly prepared car,
well done BLS
Secondly, the Pre 91 race, including none other than Ted "The Real Stig" Pearson in his beloved Green Meanie, was very much in the air virtually until the 5 second board went out.
A horrid mornings changeable weather meant that some of the track had drying patches, other sections such as Hall Bends and Barn Corner where the trees line the circuit, were still like "Prancing on Ice"!
I have a clip of Ted's usually gluefooted Sud, on brand new back tyres, coming into the Hall Bends, sliding all four sideways towards the grass during the early laps of his qualifying session. Not a sensation Ted wishes to repeat in a hurry i'm sure! But he stuck with it and scrubbed the back tyres in sufficiently to use the dry track well enough to put himself 3rd on the grid. Now then! was this to be an indicator of what was to come?
The McMahon brothers had come well prepared for their invitational class entry into the pre 91 grid line up, with a turbocharged 156 touring car, and a big V6 gtv, and so it was little surprise to most that they were P's 1 and 2, but Teds time, and the chipper in his chat, just about concealed what Ted must have been only dreaming about some years back, which I think was something along the lines of, "If it feels good, We're gonna have a proper crack at this!"
(its true, he does talk to his car you know!) Sorry Ted! ha ha!!
The rest is now another chapter in this wonderful story, the results speak for themselves, and if I can sort it there will be a short video to show a little of how it was done in my next post or two.
Thanks to BLS and Ted for the logistical contracting, the babysitting duty, and any humping, shunting, lifting n jiggling I was party to! ha ha!
its was an absolute pleasure to be part of a very special weekend,
and long may the magic continue...
well done all again, just off for a little blubber!
