following unsuccessful attempts late last year to sell this series 3 16v as a whole, daily used car, many of you know it became the donor car for Kev's 16v engined Sud Fast Road/Track car,
but i am now left with the shell, which until this weekend and talking about it with GEZ, i didn't really realise just how silly it is that this isn't being used by someone, so whilst it is now empty, i took the opportunity to get some photo's of just how good this shell is, and why is simply has to be useful to someone here.
loads of photos can be found here, too many to put into this post!
the car is still rolling, currently using my lads polo winter wheels which i would have to get back at some point, but the original speedlines with new tyres are available seperately too which you can see in the photo's, if you don't have any other wheels to stand it on.
the rear suspension and axle is all the original and untouched, as are all the rear hubs brakes etc, and the front end is losely together using the original steering, with alfasud struts, arms, crossmember, and hubs, which may actually be a bonus as a source of Sud parts?
i have a full set of standard struts, legs, and springs from my own low mileage Cloverleaf which can be included if required, visible again in the photo's
as you can see, all the dash and accessory loom and wiring etc is still present, the ecu and associated circuit being the only missing electrics.
power steering pump and other auxiliary parts still present and/or available.
there are a small number of parts that have been promised for quite some time, including the nearside rear quarter glass for myself, and some trim bits, kick strips, clips etc, but these aren't going to affect the overal bundle value or integrity of the shell at all.
i also have several sets of side skirts from ie and cloverleaf models, a cloverleaf rear spolier, a perfectly good and useable exhaust system, which can be included also,
and a full recaro interior is available for it seperately, visible in another post of mine.
essentially though, as you can see from the photo's, this is in quite remarkable solid condition, the only affected area's contrary to that are thankfully the front wings which are commonly found for about £25 quid,
all screen surrounds, boot seal area's, sill tops etc appear mint, no blisters or blemishes whatsoever
the wing rails, arches, and very likely the sills have repeatedly been drowned in waxoil and the like, the evidence of which is quite obvious looking around the engine bay, sill/arch junctions etc, which are really quite remarkable!
the sill seems, floor seems, floor itself etc, all in tip top shape, very well maintained underseal, and possible sections date more recently than the car?
jacking points are all rust free too, althouigh one is sitting at an odd angle, from clumsy jack choice or postioning no doubt!
the only flakiness i could find, was visible from the inside of the spare wheel well, where there is some surface loose material, which my want dealing with soon
i seem to recall that the fuel filler area had already had a repair panel and the car has been previously painted, prior to changing hands from a member here, through a friend of mine and them on to me.
the interior carpet and roof lining is all great, and i have all the cars history, V5 and paperwork etc, just as the cherished road car it previously was.
clearly, this is far far too good to break up or dare i say it even scrap, and would make a great track/race car base, or with only a little more effort and input a very very good road car again.
space and time are running out for this little project, so please come forward with your ideas of saving this excellent shell/car,
all suggestions, ideas, and constructive comments welcome....
