Quick update - When my 156 went in for a service last night, I was able to get a look at my 33 and the progress so far. (The garage that is rebuilding the 33 works on it when they are quiet, hence the limited progress since April). They have finished painting the underside, refitted the fuel tank, fuel lines, engine and exhaust (when I collect the 156 tonight, I will get some photos).
The engine starts and is running - lack of radiator limits engine tests but according to the guys working on it, the engine sounds good. (The engine was salvaged from the white 33 that burnt earlier this year - I was concerned the fire may have damaged the heads or block - lucky break. This engine has been fettled, balanced bottom end, lightened fly wheel, fast road cams etc). I have a set of Weber IDF 40s being refurbed as I write this, the Webers that were origionally on this engine were
damaged during the fire and scrapped - I salvaged the various jets and they will be refitted - the carbs and engine setup got 131bhp on a dyno two weeks before the fire back in Feb.
Still alot of work to go, the front end needs rebuliding, however as this series II was origionally a 1.5, and I have fitted the 1.7 engine, the whole of the salvaged front end suspension from the white 33 will be going in - vented front disks, Koni dampers, Eibach springs, new bushes (all this done just before the fire) etc.
Matty - as I am sure you will read this, I was sorley tempted to buy yours...
