Drunk Building a track car

As many of you already know, I've got a red? Sprint in my garage for a few years now.

I'm working on it to make it a nice little track car

Work that's been done so far - very VERY roughly :

Body:

Wide front wings
wide rear wings
front and rear modifications
floor panel modifications
wide sills
plexi glass all around - except front windshield

Mechanical:

Rebuilt 1.7 16v engine
P4 gearbox
P4 rear diff and prop shaft

To be done in the future:

Supercharged
Ignition timing and fuel injector ECU

The car is officially a 4x4 Sprint - since tonight
Gearbox is locked and gives constant power to the rear wheels.

The plan is to have the most fun in it in a track !

I now have the option of either leaving it 4x4 or just Rear Wheel Drive !

Votes please :

4WD ?
RWD ?

Whatever is decided will be done tomorrow

I thought you were making it mid engine or is that Tasos? Anyway, I vote RWD too!

The way I have the car now, and with the gearbox oil pan off, all I have to do to make it RWD is to remove the front diff from the gearbox
Easy

I'm more attracted by RWD as well I think, only thing is that I'll have to play with it a lot till I learn how to drive it in a track.
I believe making it 4x4 will make it understeer.

That's the beauty of it
How many Horse Power do you think it will be?

I am asking because, if is a "monster", then 4x4 maybe be a better idea for having better control

I would expect it to be somewhere in the region of 200 bhp.

Its 146 bhp now as it is (137bhp engine with chipped ECU which gives another 9bhp). After I install the supercharger, I would expect at least another 50 bhp out of it.

Power is not the real issue here though. I expect the car to be very very light, considering that I removed all the glass of the car and replaced with plexiglass, no seats, no interior, the insides of the doors will be chopped off as well, no bumpers etc etc.

It should be very tail happy

It will be but 4X4 will make it understeer, add extra weight, and i'm assuming it won't be an intelligent 4x4 system that will modulate power between front and back depending on requirements.

Much better to learn how to handle it RWD, you'll enjoy it a lot more and you'll learn a lot more with an unforgiving car.

200 bhp I think it will be OK to make it RWD
(I was talking if it was like 300-400 bhp and more)
I agree with what George suggests here

Definetely RWD. I learned driving with my father's Giulia 1300Ti and had to switch to a BMW 25 years later to get a RWD again. Don't forget that Alfas switched to FWD with the introduction of 155 after FIAT's wrong in my opinion decision (was based to the Fiat Tempra)
Alfasud is excluded as is classified as a small hatchback.
