Carb tuning

Upon letting up on the gas, the car farts and makes loud noise. Do the carbs need tuning?

Well , yes and no.

1. Check exchaust for leackage. Dificult to happen , quite easy to check either by sound check or heat emission (using your hand from a distance.). Extra oxugen in the exhaust system causes bangs...

2. Probably your carbs need to be stressed a little. Find a highway and try to open full throttle even in 2nd gear only (to be legit with speed limit) and repeat that several times. Carbs need to be used all the way from time to time in order to remove deposits.

3.Out of balance. Yes , when out of balance can cause bangs but also other symptoms like tremple when idling or rumble when accelerating slowly.

4. Bad fuel quality can also be a reason. Try an put gas from another provider and give some miles.
